Emergency Planning & Resilience Officer

We’re looking for a Emergency Planning & Resilience Officer to join our client’s team. This role will be responsible for implementing emergency response and business continuity arrangements, ensuring compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act, and maintaining effective risk management for Brent Council.

Key Details:

• Temporary role for three months (potential to extend)
• Hybrid role requirement to travel to office based in HA9
• Full-time, 35 hours per week
• Rates: £23.99 ph PAYE / £30.59 ph Umbrella

Your Role:

• Develop and implement the client's emergency response and business continuity plans.
• Coordinate and update civil contingency risk assessments and response strategies.
• Advise on emergency planning legislation and best practices.
• Lead training exercises for staff and key stakeholders on emergency response procedures.
• Manage operational aspects of the council’s emergency planning functions.
• Liaise with partner agencies, government departments, and emergency services.
• Support the coordination of the client's response to major incidents and ensure compliance with mutual aid arrangements.
• Maintain public communication and media strategies in collaboration with the Head of Communications.

What We’re Looking For:

• Knowledge of local authority duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
• Experience in developing and delivering emergency response plans.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with emergency services and government bodies.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement business continuity strategies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
