The Role
We’re recruiting a Housing Management Estates Officer for a hands-on, community-based role supporting safe, well-managed communal living environments. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on site, working directly with residents, and making a visible day-to-day difference.
This role focuses on delivering a responsive housing management service by ensuring communal areas are safe, compliant, and free from fire and health & safety risks. You’ll support local housing teams by completing fire safety actions via an online system, helping to maintain compliance while protecting residents and shared spaces.
People are central to this role. You’ll work closely with housing officers, residents, and contractors to arrange access, complete safety actions, and resolve issues efficiently. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are essential.
This is not an office-based role - you’ll be out in estates and communal areas, taking ownership and seeing the impact of your work first-hand.
Location: London, Kings Cross
Contract: Ongoing temporary contract (3 months initially)
Hours & Working Pattern: Site-based role (not office or home-based)
Pay: £14.48 per hour PAYE / £19.15 per hour Umbrella
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect communal areas to identify and address fire and health & safety risks
- Support fire risk assessment actions, including scheduled and emergency clearances
- Remove and manage items from communal areas in line with safety requirements
- Carry out minor works and basic repairs (e.g. signage, fittings, bulb changes)
- Use an online system to log actions, inspections, and outcomes
- Work collaboratively with housing teams, residents, and contractors
- Maintain high estate standards and support a safe living environment

Who We’re Looking For
- Experience in a customer-facing or community-based role
- Confidence working independently across multiple sites
- A practical, solutions-focused mindset
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Basic IT skills to update systems and records
- A commitment to resident safety and service quality
A full, clean UK driving licence is required, along with the ability to carry out manual handling tasks and basic IT skills.
