Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Homelessness Prevention Officer to join our client, a fantastic local authority based in North London on a temporary basis initally - paying £26.45 per hour Umbrella.
In this role, you will provide intensive, specialist support to homeless clients, helping them navigate complex challenges and find sustainable housing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Manage a caseload of individuals currently experiencing a housing crisis, providing them with a service that aims to minimise the duration of their crisis and offer practical solutions.
- Client Relationships: Develop an understanding of the complex, multiple needs of individuals, while also recognizing their strengths. Build trusting, non-dependent relationships to empower clients to regain confidence and motivation towards securing permanent housing.
- Empowerment & Guidance: Support clients in finding their own solutions to their housing crisis by providing expert guidance and collaborating with the wider Housing Options Team for additional resources and assistance.
- Personal Housing Plans (PHPs): Create and implement Personal Housing Plans (PHPs) for each individual in housing need, ensuring the plan is tailored to their unique circumstances. Continuously review and update the plan as necessary to reflect their progress and changing needs.
- Timely Action: Ensure all agreed actions within the PHP that are the responsibility of the Council are carried out in a timely and efficient manner. Keep the plans updated to accurately reflect client situations and progress.
About You:
- Experience in working with vulnerable individuals, particularly those facing homelessness or housing crises, is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness and the ability to respond to those challenges with empathy and professionalism.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to develop effective working relationships with clients and other agencies.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, support services, and welfare benefits is an advantage.
