£27.00 Per Hour Temporary

Our client is seeking a Building Compliance Officer for a 3 month temporary placement to Assist in overseeing management endeavours concerning Building Safety and compliance contracts, encompassing lift maintenance, gas servicing, fire risk management, water hygiene, electrical safety, and asbestos.

The role is on a hybrid basis with 3 days at their London Bridge Office and 2 working from home. The rate is £27 per hour (umbrella).

Responsibilities involve maintaining a live contract register, conducting assessments for onboarding new contractors, managing an issues log, organising contract meetings with agendas, minute-taking, and supervising follow-up actions. The client has engaged specialist consultants to advise the post holder on Gas Safety, Lifts, Heating and Asbestos Management.

You will be required to manage, develop and support the creation of accurate data across the Property Services Department, allowing managers to accurately report on performance, compliance, budget management for future forecasting for the Department.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assume day to day responsibility effective compliance and building services contracts, ensuring that the agreed standards are maintained towards the highest standard of quality.
2. Maintain the SharePoint site for building safety and compliance.
3. For compliance and servicing contract performance, agree and maintain appropriate KPIs to manage service delivery, ensuring indicators accurately measure the service. Collate, review and report on performance indicators to demonstrate contractors’ performance and level of compliance.
4. Ensure all property assets are covered by appropriate service, and compliance contracts including new homes coming out of the defect liability period. Record servicing and compliance information on the JMB’s asset register and other systems.
5. Lead in the coordination of compliance contracts, services and issues, arranging, coordinating and managing the required works.
6. Liaise with the Resident Services team and Southwark Council to ensure the provision of quality services including testing, inspection and updating of compliance requirements.
7. Be the lead officer for the Department for data collection ensuring accurate and timely recording and reporting to support compliance.
8. Experience of updating and maintaining detailed information systems ensuring that data is logged accurately and consistently.
9. Responsibility for accurately ordering, coding and making payments. Review and check invoices after determining the completion of services and works prior to payment recording information to inform service charges.
10. Identify compliance / building services trends and work with the Property Services management to identify, package and deliver suitable planned preventative measures.
11. Liaise with Repairs team to ensure all property assets are covered by appropriate service, compliance and repair contracts including new homes coming out of the defect liability period.
12. Contribute and participate in the production, review and implementation of policies and procedures relating to all building compliance and related issues.
13. Any other duties as required, commensurate with the grade and scale of the post, as directed by the Head of Property Services or the Senior Management Team.

Experience

1. Experience in managing servicing and compliance contracts tasks.
2. Experience of delivering building safety compliance services to residential dwellings.
3. Experience of data management and analysis in relation to property assets and compliance
4. Experience of raising POs, coding invoices and managing financial activities.

Knowledge

1. At least two years’ experience of administration of servicing and building compliance contracts
2. Understands a social landlord’s building safety compliance issues and obligations in relation to property management, especially with regard to building safety.
3. Demonstrates a knowledge of data in relation to the provision of repair and compliance services.
4. Demonstrates a working knowledge and understanding of residential building services.
5. Understands and applies financial standing orders (rules) in undertaking activities.
6. Working knowledge of the legal requirements inherent in delivering services to residents.

Skills and Abilities.

1. Able to communicate with a wide range of people orally and in writing.
2. Able to organise own workload within established parameters.
3. Able to produce reports containing complex data and commentary.
