Description
Graduate / Junior Fire Engineer Location: London and Surrounding
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum (DOE)
Working Pattern: Hybrid with site visits
We’re supporting a consultancy in hiring a Graduate or Junior Fire Engineer with around 1 to 3 years’ experience who has already had exposure to fire engineering design work.
This is not a “fresh out of uni, never seen a project” role. You’ll need some grounding in real projects, but you’ll be supported to develop quickly within a strong technical team.
The Role You’ll support senior engineers across a range of projects, building your capability in fire strategy and design work.
• Assist in the development of fire strategies and reports
• Support design teams with fire safety input
• Contribute to technical documentation and calculations
• Attend site visits and inspections to understand real-world application
• Learn how to navigate Building Regulations and approval processes
• Develop your understanding of performance-based design over time
What They’re Looking For
• Degree in Fire Engineering or similar
• Around 1 to 3 years’ experience in a fire engineering or consultancy environment
• Exposure to fire strategy or design work (even at a supporting level)
• Basic understanding of Building Regulations and fire safety guidance
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
Nice to have:
• Any exposure to modelling tools or performance-based design
• Early steps toward professional membership
The Reality If you’ve only done FRAs or compliance checks, you’ll struggle here.
If you’ve had even a bit of exposure to design and want to build a proper fire engineering career, this is a strong place to do it.
