Description

We’re working with a large, well-established not-for-profit organisation that provides thousands of affordable homes across London and the South East. The organisation is values-led, community-focused, and plays a key role in supporting residents and strengthening neighbourhoods.

They are looking for a Governance Assistant to join their team on an initial 2-month temporary contract, supporting senior leaders and Board activity. A permanent role will be advertised separately, with a likely start date from February, so this is a great opportunity to get a foot in the door.

The Role

This position is much more PA / EA / senior admin focused than technical governance. You don’t need prior governance experience – what’s essential is strong organisational ability, confidence supporting senior stakeholders, and excellent attention to detail. You’ll be responsible for ensuring meetings run smoothly, paperwork is accurate and on time, and senior leaders are well supported day to day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Diary management for senior leaders and coordination of Board and committee meetings
  • Organising, arranging and servicing meetings (including agendas, papers and logistics)
  • Taking clear, accurate minutes and following up actions
  • Collating and managing meeting packs and documentation
  • Managing post, document signing and sealing processes (training provided)
  • Monitoring shared mailboxes and handling correspondence professionally
  • Providing high-quality administrative and secretarial support to senior stakeholders
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion

About you

This role would suit someone who has worked as a PA, EA, Team Assistant or Senior Administrator, ideally in a busy, professional environment.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong administrative and organisational experience
  • Confidence working with senior leaders, Boards or exec-level stakeholders
  • Excellent diary management and meeting coordination skills
  • The ability to take accurate minutes and manage detailed paperwork
  • High attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
  • A professional, discreet approach when handling confidential information
  • Good IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)

Working pattern

  • Hybrid working
  • Minimum 2 days per week in the office (based Kings Cross)
  • Wednesdays are essential, due to meetings, post and document signing requirements

Rates

  • £17.35 per hour (PAYE)
  • £23.34 per hour (Umbrella)

If you’re an organised, proactive admin professional who enjoys supporting senior teams and wants exposure within a respected, purpose-driven organisation, this is an excellent short-term opportunity with longer-term potential.
