Building Surveyor - North London
Contract: Initial 6-month contract
Pay: Up to £400 per day Umbrella
Location: North London (Brent)
Hybrid: 1 day in the office, 4 days either on site or work from home
About the Role
We are working with one of London’s leading G15 housing organisations - a group of the largest housing associations in London responsible for providing and maintaining homes for hundreds of thousands of residents across the capital.
They are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to support the delivery of high-quality planned and reactive maintenance across a residential portfolio within the London Borough of Brent. This role sits within the Asset Management function and plays a key part in ensuring homes remain safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.
You will work closely with Asset Leads, contractors, and internal teams to deliver surveying services including inspections, technical reports, project management of works, and contract oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct property inspections, surveys and prepare detailed technical reports and specifications
- Oversee delivery of responsive and planned maintenance works
- Project manage works programmes ensuring delivery to time, budget and quality standards
- Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with HSE & CDM requirements
- Support delivery of disrepair works and insurance-related repairs
- Undertake post-inspections to ensure works meet required standards
- Provide technical advice across repairs, cyclical maintenance and major works programmes
About You
We are looking for a Surveyor who can operate confidently across a varied residential portfolio and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and contractors.
Essential:
- Degree in Building Surveying or Built Environment
- Experience within a Building Surveyor or Repairs Surveyor role
- Strong knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance
- Experience producing technical reports and specifications
- Understanding of JCT / NEC contracts
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Desirable:
- Member of RICS or CIOB
- Experience within social housing or local authority environment
- Knowledge of FRA / EPC works
- Experience managing programmes of works
Working Pattern
- Minimum 1 day per week in the King’s Cross office
- Remaining time split between site visits across Brent and home working
- Flexible, autonomous role with strong team support
