The Opportunity
We’re supporting a large, well-established housing provider with a strong social purpose, responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of homes and communities across the UK. They are committed to providing safe, high-quality housing and continuously improving fire safety standards for residents.
Due to increased demand, they are looking for an experienced Interim Fire Risk Assessor to join their Fire Safety team on an initial short-term contract, with the potential for longer-term opportunities.
- Location: Camden (Remote-first with office access for tech support)
- Rates: £29 PAYE / £37.91 Umbrella (c. £52,781 annual equivalent)
- Contract: 1-month contract initially (potential to extend / go perm or FTC)
The Role
Working closely with the Fire Risk Assessment Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality fire risk assessments across a varied portfolio including residential buildings, supported housing and commercial spaces.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Identifying fire risks and clearly outlining required remedial actions
- Carrying out inspections, audits, and post-remedial reviews
- Collaborating with internal teams and external bodies (e.g. Fire Service, Building Control)
- Supporting fire safety strategies and evacuation planning
- Uploading reports and ensuring accurate record-keeping
- Providing clear, practical fire safety advice to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Supporting ongoing fire safety awareness and compliance initiatives
About You
We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running with strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience.
Essential:
- Proven experience delivering fire risk assessments across complex / high-risk residential portfolios
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate (or equivalent)
- Third-party accreditation aligned with FRACC competency criteria (e.g. IFE, IFSM, Warrington)
- Strong understanding of fire safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Ability to interpret findings and drive practical solutions
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Membership with the Institution of Fire Engineers (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of LACORS, PAS 79, Approved Document B
- Experience within social housing or multi-site environments
- Experience responding to enforcement notices
Important Role Requirements
- Ability to use step ladders / telescopic ladders to inspect areas such as above false ceilings
- Comfortable working at low heights and in varied environments
- Awareness of lone working practices and asbestos safety (desirable)
