They’re now looking for a proactive, technically strong Maintenance Surveyor to join their regional team and deliver an outstanding repairs and maintenance service across their housing stock.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Surveyor, you will play a key part in ensuring homes are maintained to the highest standard. You’ll carry out pre- and post-inspections, oversee complex repairs, support disrepair cases, and work closely with contractors to ensure works are completed on time, within budget, and to quality expectations. This role is varied, fast-paced, and hands-on - ideal for someone who enjoys finding practical solutions, working with customers, and ensuring homes are safe and compliant.
Contract: Ongoing temporary contract (3-months to start with)
Location: Islington, Hybrid | 1 day every 6 weeks in office (no car required)
Rates: Up to £45 per hour via Umbrella
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver an effective repairs and maintenance service across responsive repairs, voids, cyclical works, FRA works, major/complex repairs, and aids & adaptations.
- Complete diagnostic inspections, surveys, technical reports and provide accurate professional advice.
- Manage insurance claims, including liaising with loss adjusters and supporting decant processes where needed.
- Act as the technical lead during handover of new developments, ensuring quality from completion through to end of defects.
- Oversee and manage budget spend in your area (~£2m), ensuring invoices and contractor submissions are accurate and offer value for money.
- Lead on legal disrepair claims and Environmental Health Orders, providing detailed reports and managing required works.
- Coordinate empty homes to minimise rental loss, ensuring voids meet lettable standards and are completed efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation, including asbestos and CDM requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, repairs providers and contractors to maintain excellent customer satisfaction.
About You Essential:
- Diploma in Surveying, Property & Maintenance (Level 3)
- Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB)
- Strong knowledge of building construction, building regulations, health & safety and asset management
- Experience delivering repairs & maintenance services within a housing or property environment
- Confident in financial controls and managing spend
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
- Strong IT skills, especially Excel, Word and reporting systems
- Ability to write clear technical reports and manage conflicting priorities
- Strong negotiation and contractor management skills
Desirable:
- Degree-level education in a related discipline
- Experience in social housing or local authority repairs teams
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to attend occasional out-of-hours meetings or property visits
