The Organisation

You’ll be joining a large, resident-focused housing provider managing a diverse portfolio of homes across London and the South East. The organisation has a strong social purpose, with residents at the heart of everything it does, and is heavily focused on service quality, safety, compliance and continuous improvement - particularly in response to emerging legislation such as Awaab’s Law

The Role

As a Repairs Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring responsive repairs are delivered to a consistently high standard, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and resident satisfaction. The role goes beyond inspection alone - acting as a visible, trusted presence on estates and ensuring failures are identified, challenged and resolved quickly.

This is a regional role, requiring regular site visits. You’ll be based from the King’s Cross office but will often go straight home after inspections and will not be expected to return to the office once site visits are complete. There may be potential for up to one day working from home, depending on workload and service needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out pre- and post-inspections of responsive repairs, ensuring works meet required quality, safety and compliance standards
  • Support the delivery of repairs in line with Awaab’s Law, damp & mould requirements and wider building safety obligations
  • Monitor contractor performance, ensuring KPIs, health & safety and codes of conduct are adhered to
  • Diagnose repair issues clearly and accurately, producing concise technical reports, specifications and recommendations
  • Take ownership of poor-quality works and ensure issues are seen through to successful resolution
  • Oversee repair variations and escalations, ensuring value for money and identifying trends or concerns
  • Work closely with surveyors, regional repair leads, housing officers and contractors to deliver a joined-up service
  • Act as a resident advocate, ensuring concerns, complaints and feedback are addressed promptly and thoroughly
  • Contribute to audits, stock condition inspections and service improvements through data and insight
  • Attend contractor and operational meetings as required

  • Strong background in repairs inspection within housing or property maintenance

  • Knowledge or experience aligned to Awaab’s Law, damp & mould or building safety compliance
