About the organisation

Our client is a leading social housing provider responsible for delivering high-quality housing and services to residents across the borough. The organisation is committed to creating safe, secure and well-managed homes, with a strong focus on resident wellbeing, independence and community engagement.

This is an opportunity to join their Sheltered Housing service, supporting older residents and residents with disabilities to live independently within safe, welcoming and well-maintained schemes.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Sheltered Housing Officer to manage the day-to-day delivery of enhanced housing management services across a number of sheltered housing schemes.

You will be responsible for providing a visible and approachable presence for residents, ensuring schemes are safe, well maintained and effectively managed, whilst supporting residents to access appropriate services and maintain their independence.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operation of sheltered housing schemes across the borough.
  • Maintain regular contact with residents and ensure accurate tenant records are maintained.
  • Provide advice and signposting around housing, welfare benefits, financial support, health and social care services.
  • Support new residents with viewings, sign-ups and settling into their scheme.
  • Monitor repairs, maintenance and defects and liaise with contractors and other service providers.
  • Act as Premises Controller, ensuring health & safety requirements and regular checks are completed.
  • Carry out relevant risk assessments and monitor fire, alarm and other safety systems.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and alarm calls.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns involving vulnerable adults.
  • Respond to resident enquiries and complaints, resolving issues wherever possible.
  • Encourage resident involvement, social interaction and use of communal facilities.
  • Facilitate resident meetings and consultation.
  • Maintain accurate records, diaries and relevant reports.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Manage your own workload across multiple schemes, working independently and using your initiative.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous social housing experience, ideally within sheltered or supported housing.
  • Experience working with older people and/or vulnerable residents.
  • Strong knowledge of housing, welfare benefits, health and social care services.
  • Experience handling resident enquiries and complaints.
  • A good understanding of health & safety, safeguarding and premises management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and manage multiple schemes.
  • A calm, professional and solutions-focused approach.
  • Experience building positive relationships with residents, colleagues and external agencies.
  • The ability to travel between schemes across the borough.
  • A National Warden's Certificate, Housing qualification or Social Housing qualification would be desirable.
