Description

Compliance Officer (Data Protection)

  • Location: Kings Cross (Hybrid – 2 days office: Mon & Wed)
  • Pay: £32.27 per hour (Umbrella)
  • Type: 35 hours per week | Ongoing Interim

 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two experienced Compliance Officers (Data Protection) to join a leading London housing organisation, part of the G15 group – a collective of the capital’s largest housing associations, committed to delivering safe, high-quality homes and services to residents across London.

This is a key interim assignment providing high-level cover within the Data Protection function, supporting at manager level and ensuring full compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The Role

You’ll play a critical role in maintaining and strengthening data protection compliance across a large and complex housing operation, working closely with senior stakeholders and reporting into the Acting Data Protection Manager.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and responding to Subject Access Requests (SARs) within statutory deadlines
  • Maintaining and updating Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) across 100+ business areas
  • Investigating data breaches and security incidents, including ICO reporting
  • Supporting and reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Providing expert advice to stakeholders on data protection, policies, and best practice
  • Coordinating data protection activities across teams to ensure compliance standards are met
  • Maintaining logs, registers, and producing compliance reporting and insights 

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
  • Proven experience handling SARs, breaches, and DPIAs
  • Experience working in a complex, customer-focused organisation (housing/public sector desirable)
  • Confident advising stakeholders and influencing at all levels
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
