Pension Specialist

Location: West London | 2 Days in Office (Tuesday & Wednesday)
Pay: Up to £35 per hour PAYE (Circa. £65.5k per annum equiv)
Contract: Initial 12-week contract - ongoing thereafter

We’re currently supporting one of London’s most progressive and resident-focused local authorities to appoint an experienced Pension Specialist to join their Finance team on an interim basis.

This borough is known for delivering high-quality public services, driving innovation across local government, and fostering a collaborative and agile working culture. They are now looking for a technically strong LGPS professional to support the Pension Fund with employer admissions, governance, compliance, and stakeholder management.

The Role

This is a highly specialist position focused on managing the end-to-end Fund employer process for organisations joining and leaving the LGPS fund.

You’ll act as a key technical point of reference for LGPS legislation and work closely with legal advisors, actuaries, employers, and internal stakeholders to manage admission agreements, bonds, risk analysis, and pension-related governance matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing admission agreements and bond arrangements from initiation through to completion
  • Coordinating with legal advisors and actuaries to support new employer admissions
  • Managing pension aspects of TUPE transfers and outsourced contracts
  • Supporting stakeholders with contribution rate queries and late payments
  • Maintaining registers and records relating to bonds and agreements
  • Assisting with audits, valuations, pension policy work, and statutory returns
  • Attending service provider meetings and deputising for the Head of Pensions when required

About You

We’re keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • 3–5+ years’ experience within LGPS or Defined Benefit pension administration
  • Strong technical knowledge of LGPS regulations and scheme structures
  • Experience managing admission agreements and bond arrangements
  • The ability to confidently communicate complex pension regulations to a range of audiences
  • Experience supporting employers and stakeholders with pension-related queries and compliance matters
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected public sector organisation and play a key role in supporting the governance and operational delivery of a major pension fund.
