Pension Specialist
Location: West London | 2 Days in Office (Tuesday & Wednesday)
Pay: Up to £35 per hour PAYE (Circa. £65.5k per annum equiv)
Contract: Initial 12-week contract - ongoing thereafter
We’re currently supporting one of London’s most progressive and resident-focused local authorities to appoint an experienced Pension Specialist to join their Finance team on an interim basis.
This borough is known for delivering high-quality public services, driving innovation across local government, and fostering a collaborative and agile working culture. They are now looking for a technically strong LGPS professional to support the Pension Fund with employer admissions, governance, compliance, and stakeholder management.
The Role
This is a highly specialist position focused on managing the end-to-end Fund employer process for organisations joining and leaving the LGPS fund.
You’ll act as a key technical point of reference for LGPS legislation and work closely with legal advisors, actuaries, employers, and internal stakeholders to manage admission agreements, bonds, risk analysis, and pension-related governance matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing admission agreements and bond arrangements from initiation through to completion
- Coordinating with legal advisors and actuaries to support new employer admissions
- Managing pension aspects of TUPE transfers and outsourced contracts
- Supporting stakeholders with contribution rate queries and late payments
- Maintaining registers and records relating to bonds and agreements
- Assisting with audits, valuations, pension policy work, and statutory returns
- Attending service provider meetings and deputising for the Head of Pensions when required
About You
We’re keen to speak with candidates who have:
- 3–5+ years’ experience within LGPS or Defined Benefit pension administration
- Strong technical knowledge of LGPS regulations and scheme structures
- Experience managing admission agreements and bond arrangements
- The ability to confidently communicate complex pension regulations to a range of audiences
- Experience supporting employers and stakeholders with pension-related queries and compliance matters
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines
