We are recruiting an experienced Plumber to join a busy property repairs and maintenance team covering Basingstoke, Surrey and North Hampshire.
This is a permanent, mobile role carrying out plumbing maintenance, repairs and installations in customers’ homes. You will work across planned and responsive repairs, diagnosing faults and completing work to a high standard while providing a professional and considerate service to residents.
The position would suit a capable, versatile plumber who is comfortable working independently, organising materials and completing accurate job records. You will need broad domestic plumbing experience, sound fault-finding skills and the ability to complete both first and second fix work.
The role You will carry out routine servicing, planned maintenance and responsive repairs to plumbing and heating installations, fixtures and fittings. This will include diagnosing faults, identifying the appropriate solution and completing repairs in line with agreed work schedules.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing first and second fix plumbing work
- Repairing and maintaining sanitary, drainage, heating, hot-water and cold-water systems
- Assembling and repairing pipes, tubing and fittings using appropriate joining methods
- Diagnosing pipework problems and locating leaks using water and air gauges
- Fitting bathrooms and cylinders
- Servicing heating installations
- Unblocking drains and investigating drainage faults
- Working on vented and unvented hot-water systems
- Installing and repairing showers and water pumps
- Completing wet-room adaptations
- Assisting other trades and undertaking associated general building repairs when required
- Identifying materials needed for each job and maintaining appropriate vehicle stock
- Recording the condition of installations and reporting defects or recommended future maintenance
- Keeping customers and colleagues informed about progress and any further action required
- Using mobile or paper-based systems to manage appointments, job records, timesheets, materials and completion updates
- Following health and safety procedures and delivering a consistently high standard of customer care
About you You will need practical experience across domestic plumbing repairs and maintenance, including first and second fix plumbing. You should be confident troubleshooting pipework, detecting leaks and working with bathroom fittings, cylinders, drainage, showers, water pumps and hot-water systems.
Experience of heating servicing, wet-room adaptations and working with both vented and unvented systems is required. You must also be comfortable working alone and taking part in an out-of-hours call-out service.
The work takes place across customers’ homes in Basingstoke, Surrey and North Hampshire, so you should be comfortable with a mobile working pattern and travel throughout the operating area.
