Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Home Buy Officer (Leasehold) to join a large, forward-thinking local authority in West London on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a busy Home Ownership service, supporting residents through complex leasehold and Right to Buy transactions while helping maximise income and ensure statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Right to Buy applications are progressed within statutory timescales
  • Administer sales processes including:? Lease extensions (formal and voluntary)?, alterations and additional space sales?, collective enfranchisement and freehold disposals
  • Maximise revenue collection and identify income-generating opportunities
  • Maintain up-to-date specialist knowledge of leasehold, RTB legislation, case law, and best practice
  • Respond to leaseholder, tenant, solicitor, and stakeholder enquiries and complaints
  • Draft reports and briefings for management on policy, legislation, and operational issues
  • Work closely with legal and internal teams to mitigate risk and ensure compliance
  • Embed co-production and improve customer experience through proactive engagement
  • Support and deputise for the Home Buy Team Leader where required

About You

Essential:

  • Experience interpreting legal documents and housing-related legislation
  • Strong understanding of Right to Buy and leasehold processes
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and statutory targets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident handling challenging customers and complex cases
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office and housing systems)

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a local authority or similar housing environment
  • Degree-level education or professional housing qualification (e.g. CIH / IRPM)
