Technical Assurance
Kings Cross, London | Hybrid | 6-month contract | £41.74 per hour
8am–4pm, Monday to Friday | Two positions available
We are recruiting two experienced Technical Assurance professionals to oversee compliance certification across mechanical, electrical and fire-related works, with a particular focus on electrical certification.
This is an important technical role within a housing and building safety environment. You will independently review contractor outputs, certificates and asset information, ensuring work is safe, compliant, properly evidenced and accurately recorded.
You will need strong electrical knowledge, the confidence to challenge incomplete or non-compliant documentation, and the ability to explain technical findings clearly to contractors and internal stakeholders.
The role
You will provide specialist technical assurance across electrical systems and wider mechanical and fire-related works. Your work will help maintain strong engineering standards, reliable compliance data and audit-ready records.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and approving contractor outputs, electrical certificates and associated compliance documentation
- Confirming that certification is valid, accurate and aligned with current engineering and regulatory standards
- Identifying defects, inconsistencies, non-compliance and missing evidence
- Challenging contractors where documentation or completed work does not meet the required standard
- Assessing and escalating technical or compliance risks
- Identifying recurring issues and contractor performance concerns
- Supporting the development of assurance processes, validation methods, inspection criteria and audit checks
- Undertaking targeted site visits for complex or higher-risk works
- Ensuring asset and compliance data is complete, accurate and auditable
- Supporting the integrity of building safety information and the “golden thread”
- Providing technical input into contractor valuations and confirming whether completed work meets the required quality standard
- Working with engineering, fire safety, asbestos, heat, energy, water and external managing agent teams
- Holding regular contractor meetings to review work and resolve technical issues
- Keeping your technical and regulatory knowledge up to date
About you
The following qualifications and experience are essential:
- Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or an Electrotechnical discipline, such as an Electrotechnical Apprenticeship including AM2/AM2S, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent
- Inspection and testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent
- Up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671 and the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Strong experience of electrical systems within housing or building services
- Experience covering inspection, testing, certification and fault identification
- Experience of technical assurance, auditing or quality control
- Experience reviewing contractor outputs, technical data and compliance documentation
- An understanding of fire systems, relevant standards and specialist sign-off requirements
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Electricity at Work Regulations, Building Safety Act and fire safety legislation
- Experience within a regulated or compliance-led environment
- A full clean UK driving licence
- Willingness to complete a Basic DBS check
You will also need good communication and IT skills, sound technical judgement and the ability to identify trends that can improve contractor performance and service quality.
The role is hybrid, with three days each week based in the King's Cross office and two days working from home. Targeted site travel will also be required on office days, and a van will be provided.
