Repairs Officer Location: North London
Contract: Three months with potential extension
Hours: Full-time, office-based
Pay: £19.54 PAYE / £25.84 Umbrella

We are looking for an organised and customer-focused Repairs Officer to support the effective delivery of day-to-day housing repairs. This is an important operational position focused on progressing repair cases, coordinating contractors and keeping residents informed throughout the process.

Working as part of a busy repairs service, you will help ensure work is completed promptly, safely and to a high standard. You will take ownership of repair activity within internal systems, respond to enquiries and work closely with operational teams, inspectors and contractors to resolve issues.

The role is fully office-based in North London, with no home-working arrangement.

The role You will oversee and progress repairs from initial diagnosis through to completion. This will include monitoring outstanding work, identifying delays, escalating complex cases and making sure accurate updates are recorded on internal systems.

You will use your knowledge of responsive repairs processes to help diagnose issues and determine whether work falls within the organisation’s responsibilities. You will also recognise cases requiring escalation and ensure the appropriate senior colleagues are involved.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to resident enquiries and concerns while maintaining clear and accurate records
  • Keeping residents and stakeholders informed through regular, appropriate communication
  • Reviewing completed work against agreed specifications before it progresses for payment
  • Supporting invoice checks and confirming that work has been completed correctly
  • Reviewing contractor quotations and variation requests, challenging costs where appropriate
  • Monitoring contractor performance, quality, timescales and compliance
  • Supporting cost and quality audits across repair work
  • Providing performance information and commentary against targets and KPIs
  • Following up with residents to confirm satisfaction with completed repairs
  • Working collaboratively with operational teams, inspectors and internal and external contractors
  • Supporting compliance with relevant legislation, consumer standards, financial regulations, building safety requirements and health and safety procedures

About you You will need previous experience of developing and operating administrative systems and processes within a busy office environment. You should be highly organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and able to work effectively against performance targets and deadlines.

You will also need:

  • Experience working in a customer service environment
  • Experience providing performance monitoring and commentary against business targets
  • Experience working to key performance indicators
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • A good understanding of relevant legislation, statutory duties and regulatory requirements
  • A genuinely customer-focused approach
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Effective IT skills, including basic to intermediate Microsoft Office capability

Previous experience managing responsive repairs would be desirable.

This opportunity would suit somebody who enjoys taking ownership, resolving problems and helping residents receive a reliable and responsive repairs service.
