Description

North London or Basildon, Essex | Temporary Contracts | Hybrid Working | Circa £40,000 per annum (pro rata/hourly equivalent)

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in local communities? We’re recruiting for two Neighbourhood Response Officers to join a leading housing association, supporting the delivery of safe, clean and well-maintained neighbourhoods where residents feel proud to live.

One position is based in North London, with a second opportunity in Basildon, Essex. Both roles offer temporary contracts, hybrid working and the opportunity to work closely with residents, colleagues and local partners to improve neighbourhood services and community safety.

About the organisation

Our client is one of the UK’s leading housing associations, providing affordable homes and supporting communities across the country. With a strong focus on resident experience, neighbourhood investment and building sustainable communities, the organisation works collaboratively with residents, local authorities and external partners to create places where people can thrive.

The Role

As a Neighbourhood Response Officer, you’ll take a proactive approach to neighbourhood management, helping to ensure estates are safe, well-maintained and welcoming. You’ll work directly with residents, investigate tenancy breaches, address anti-social behaviour and identify opportunities to improve local services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out regular estate inspections, identifying neighbourhood improvements and following up on fire safety risks.
  • Developing and delivering neighbourhood plans and local offers that reflect residents’ needs.
  • Working with residents’ groups, local authorities, safer neighbourhood teams and community organisations to address local issues.
  • Investigating tenancy and lease breaches, including visiting residents where required.
  • Supporting vulnerable residents and identifying where ongoing tenancy sustainment support may be needed.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve community safety.
  • Conducting property checks, viewings, tenancy sign-ups and tenancy assignments.
  • Attending court proceedings, providing witness statements and supporting evictions where required.
  • Assisting with major incidents and tenant decants when necessary.

About You

We’re looking for a confident, customer-focused professional who enjoys working within communities and can balance a supportive approach to residents with the ability to address challenging situations effectively.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience delivering excellent customer service and dealing with customers face-to-face.
  • Experience working with external partners and stakeholders.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, work to plans and achieve targets.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The confidence to work independently, exercise sound judgement and take ownership of issues.
  • A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive service delivery.
