You will work across offices, residential properties and development sites, providing clear and impartial advice while helping the organisation maintain safe working practices.

The role

As HSE Advisor, you will develop trusted relationships with stakeholders across Property Services and provide subject matter expertise on occupational health, safety and environmental matters.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting visible safety leadership and supporting initiatives that strengthen safety culture
  • Conducting field safety visits across offices, residential properties and development sites
  • Identifying good practice and recommending proportionate improvements
  • Advising stakeholders on occupational health hazards and undertaking field monitoring
  • Supporting environmental awareness and responsible operational practices
  • Explaining HSE policies, procedures and regulatory requirements clearly
  • Leading and supporting incident reporting, classification and root cause analysis
  • Identifying systemic learning and recommending preventative measures
  • Coaching line managers on hazard identification, risk assessment and suitable controls
  • Delivering engaging HSE induction training to new colleagues
  • Responding to HSE management enquiries and taking ownership through to completion
  • Supporting relevant external stakeholder and tender evaluations
  • Undertaking DSE assessments for reasonable adjustments

What you will need

You must have significant experience working in HSE roles, including providing occupational health and safety advice within property or construction environments.

You will also need:

  • A NEBOSH National General Certificate
  • NEBOSH root cause analysis training or an equivalent qualification
  • Experience reviewing health and safety policies and procedures and recommending good practice
  • Confidence classifying incidents and leading incident investigations
  • Strong communication, analytical and critical evaluation skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with managers, frontline teams and other stakeholders
  • The creativity to produce engaging safety training and workshops
  • The ability to organise competing priorities accurately and with close attention to detail
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to contribute positively within a team
  • A full driving licence, access to your own vehicle and willingness to travel frequently

A NEBOSH Construction Certificate would be beneficial. Experience as a DSE Assessor, occupational health monitoring experience or progress towards an IOSH Level 5 or 6 Diploma or equivalent would also be welcomed.

Working arrangement

The role covers Basingstoke and surrounding areas and requires regular travel across the local operating region. You will conduct visits in a range of working environments and may occasionally travel further afield for team meetings.

The confirmed benefits include 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing by one day each year up to 30 days. You will also receive three wellbeing days, two paid volunteering days, a matched pension contribution of up to 12% and life cover at four times salary. Flexible benefit options include buying or selling holiday, private medical insurance, dental insurance and critical illness cover.

If you are an experienced HSE professional who combines sound technical knowledge with practical advice and confident stakeholder engagement, we would be pleased to hear from you.
