We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Surveyor to join a large, established housing organisation on an interim basis, covering the Leatherhead and Dorking area.

The Role
Reporting to the Neighbourhood Repairs Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing responsive repairs, void works and cyclical repairs across your area. You’ll act as a key technical point of contact, ensuring works are delivered to the required cost, time, quality and customer service standards.
- Undertaking pre and post-inspections for responsive repairs, void works and cyclical repairs, producing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Carrying out building and technical surveys to assess building condition, identify defects and establish associated risks.
- Undertaking major void inspections and ensuring works are completed within agreed KPIs and quality standards.
- Planning and coordinating repair, maintenance and construction works, ensuring delivery within programme, budget and quality requirements.
- Managing and monitoring the performance of external contractors, ensuring works are delivered on time, to specification and provide value for money.
- Working across a regional repairs budget of approximately £10m, supporting effective cost control and financial management.
- Consulting and engaging with customers and leaseholders, ensuring a high standard of communication and customer satisfaction.
- Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of repairs and maintenance programmes.
- Taking ownership of legal disrepair cases and statutory notices relating to your locality, ensuring appropriate action and resolution.
- Identifying defects, risks and areas of concern and making recommendations based on your survey findings.
- Ensuring works comply with all relevant legislation, regulations, policies and health and safety requirements.
- Driving high standards of workmanship, minimising defects and ensuring a positive customer experience.
About You
We’re looking for a technically strong and experienced surveyor who is confident working within a busy social housing repairs environment.
Essential requirements:
- Diploma in Surveying, Property and Maintenance Level 3.
- Membership of a relevant professional body, such as RICS or CIOB.
- Proven experience within repairs, maintenance or housing, ideally within a social housing environment.
- Experience undertaking property/building inspections and identifying defects and associated risks.
- Strong knowledge of responsive repairs, voids and cyclical works.
- Experience managing and monitoring contractors and their on-site performance.
- Experience working with legal disrepair and/or statutory notices would be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of relevant building regulations, legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, with the ability to deal confidently with residents, leaseholders, contractors and stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience working within significant repair and maintenance budgets.
