We're recruiting on behalf of one of the UK's largest and most respected housing providers, responsible for managing thousands of homes and delivering high-quality housing services across London and the South East. They are committed to creating thriving communities, putting residents first and providing safe, well-managed homes.
Due to increased demand, they are looking to appoint three Neighbourhood Housing Officers to join their East London Housing Management team.
The Role
You'll be responsible for managing your own neighbourhood patch of approximately 500-600 properties across Havering, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham, acting as the primary point of contact for residents and ensuring both housing management and property management services are delivered to the highest standard.
This is a varied, customer-facing role where no two days are the same. You'll build strong relationships with residents, work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies, and take ownership of complex tenancy and estate management issues from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a designated neighbourhood patch, delivering an excellent housing management service.
- Build positive relationships with residents, acting as their main point of contact and advocate.
- Manage tenancy and leasehold matters, ensuring residents receive accurate advice and support.
- Investigate and resolve anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches, tenancy fraud, domestic abuse, hate crime and safeguarding concerns.
- Carry out tenancy audits, estate inspections, communal area inspections and property visits to ensure homes remain safe, compliant and well maintained.
- Manage neighbourhood issues including fly-tipping, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, parking disputes, waste management and estate maintenance.
- Liaise with contractors and facilities management teams to resolve property and estate-related issues.
- Provide residents with information regarding service charges and property-related enquiries.
- Complete Fire Risk Actions and other compliance activities within required timescales.
- Identify, manage and escalate risks across your neighbourhood patch.
- Prepare referrals for legal action where required and work alongside legal teams on court proceedings.
- Support vulnerable residents through appropriate referrals to internal and external support services.
- Build strong partnerships with local authorities, police, contractors, MPs, Councillors and other stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes.
- Manage complaints and resident enquiries, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
About You
To be successful you'll have:
- Previous experience working as a Neighbourhood Housing Officer, Housing Officer, Tenancy Officer, Property Manager or Housing Manager within social housing.
- Strong knowledge of housing management and property management, including tenancy and leasehold management, estate management, communal inspections, facilities management and service charges.
- Experience managing anti-social behaviour, tenancy fraud, safeguarding and complex casework.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, compliance, risk management, Housing & Immigration Law and Welfare Reform.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with residents and partner organisations.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to challenge processes where necessary to achieve the best outcomes for residents.
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
- An IRPM or Housing qualification is desirable but not essential.

- £37,451 per annum (negotiable DOE) - temp equivalent will be applied
- Hybrid working (60% - 80% remote)
- Temporary contracts initially - potential for longer term
- East London patch covering Havering, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham.
