Supported Housing Officer
East London | Contract | £20.58 per hour PAYE | Circa £37,000–£38,000 annual equivalent
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Supported Housing Officer to join a major social housing organisation delivering homes and services to residents across London and the South East.
This is a site-based role covering Supported and Sheltered Housing schemes around Waltham Forest (E17), where you’ll take ownership of a defined patch and provide a high-quality housing management service to residents, including older and vulnerable customers.
You’ll be a visible and accountable presence on site, building strong relationships with residents while taking ownership of tenancy, estate and neighbourhood management issues.
The Role
As a Supported Housing Officer, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day housing management of a patch of Supported and Sheltered Housing schemes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the main point of contact for residents across your patch.
- Managing tenancy and neighbourhood management, including ASB cases from initial investigation through to resolution.
- Building positive relationships with residents and responding proactively to their needs.
- Meeting with vulnerable residents regularly to ensure their needs are being met.
- Carrying out regular estate and scheme inspections, ensuring communal areas are clean, safe and well maintained.
- Identifying and raising repairs, monitoring progress and ensuring residents are satisfied with the outcome.
- Supporting gas compliance by working with residents and contractors to ensure access is achieved within required timescales.
- Supporting lettings, transfers and mutual exchanges where required.
- Leading resident engagement activities and using feedback to identify opportunities to improve services.
- Working closely with internal teams and external agencies to support vulnerable residents.
- Coordinating multi-agency meetings and problem-solving activity where appropriate.
- Managing complaints and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
- Carrying out scheme health and safety checks and following up on action plans.
- Ensuring landlords and tenants comply with relevant tenancy, lease and housing requirements.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of housing, ASB, leasehold and service charge legislation.
About You
We’re looking for someone with front-line housing management experience who is confident working directly with residents and managing issues independently.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience in a customer-facing or front-line housing role.
- Experience or knowledge of working with older or vulnerable residents.
- Strong tenancy and neighbourhood management experience.
- Experience managing ASB cases, complaints and complex resident issues.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The confidence to deal with challenging behaviour and difficult situations.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Good written communication skills, including the ability to produce correspondence, reports and witness statements.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A proactive approach and the ability to take ownership of issues from start to finish.
The role involves regular contact with vulnerable adults and therefore DBS clearance will be required. The role also requires a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
