Solicitor – Housing Management
£56.89 per hour (Umbrella) | 6-Month Contract | Kings Cross | Hybrid (2 Days Office / 3 Days Home)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's largest housing providers, managing tens of thousands of homes and delivering vital housing services to communities across London and the South East. The organisation is committed to providing safe, sustainable homes and putting residents at the heart of everything they do. 

We're looking for an experienced Housing Management Solicitor to join the in-house Legal Services team on an initial 6-month contract.

The Role

You'll take ownership of a varied caseload of housing management litigation while supporting and mentoring a team of paralegals. Working closely with operational teams, you'll provide expert legal advice, manage complex cases and help minimise organisational risk through pragmatic, resident-focused legal solutions. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of housing management litigation including:
    • Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)
    • Tenancy and lease breaches
    • Tenancy fraud
    • Unlawful subletting
    • Failed succession claims
  • Provide specialist legal advice to operational teams.
  • Lead on complex and high-risk litigation matters.
  • Supervise and mentor paralegals within the legal team.
  • Draft pleadings, witness statements, court bundles and legal documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with other legal teams including Disrepair and Compliance.
  • Monitor legal spend and ensure cases are managed efficiently and effectively. 

About You

You'll be a qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with:

  • A current practising certificate.
  • At least 2 years' PQE.
  • Previous experience within social housing, local authority or private practice housing litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of housing law, landlord & tenant legislation and litigation processes.
  • Experience managing complex housing management cases from instruction through to conclusion.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
