Specialist Housing Officer – Sheltered Housing (Older & Vulnerable Residents)

Location: Hammersmith, London (Office-based)
Pay: £22.18 PAYE / £28.34 Umbrella
Contract: 3 months initially (likely ongoing)

We’re recruiting for a Specialist Housing Officer to deliver an enhanced tenancy and estate management service supporting older and vulnerable residents across sheltered housing schemes. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact on residents’ quality of life while working closely with internal teams, care providers and community partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality housing management service tailored to the needs of older and vulnerable residents
  • Carry out scheme inspections to ensure safe, clean and well-maintained communal environments
  • Manage tenancy processes including sign-ups, successions and tenancy changes
  • Support residents to sustain their tenancy and access relevant services
  • Monitor rent accounts, identify arrears and provide early support interventions
  • Identify tenancy breaches including ASB, subletting or illegal occupancy
  • Work closely with stakeholders including support providers, contractors and community organisations
  • Promote resident engagement and social activities to enhance wellbeing and community connection
  • Support voids and rehousing processes, ensuring smooth move-ins for new residents
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and safeguarding responsibilities

What we’re looking for

  • Experience within housing management or a similar customer-focused role
  • Strong understanding of supporting vulnerable residents and safeguarding principles
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and problem-solve effectively
  • Confidence using housing systems and maintaining accurate records
  • A proactive, empathetic and service-driven approach
