Location: Kings Cross
Contract: Temporary 12 weeks (possible chance of extension)
Rate: £20.05 per hour PAYE or £26.51 per hour Umbrella which is around £36,491 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Working Setup: Office-based / hybrid (TBC)
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Former Tenant Arrears Officer to join a leading housing organisation. You will be responsible for managing former tenant accounts end-to-end, focusing on maximising debt recovery while ensuring transparency, compliance, and accurate reporting.
You will work closely with internal housing teams, local authorities, and external debt collection agencies to reduce arrears, recover outstanding income, and improve processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage former tenant arrears and credits from start to finish
- Maximise income recovery using tracing methods, payment plans, and legal action where required
- Work with housing teams to reduce debt at tenancy end
- Liaise with local authorities regarding housing benefit overpayments
- Manage relationships with debt collection agencies
- Maintain accurate records and produce performance reports
- Monitor KPIs and identify areas for service improvement
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in income collection or arrears management (housing preferred)
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and stakeholders
- Good knowledge of housing systems and processes
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
