Description
Neighbourhood Manager
South East London | Temporary contract | 35 hours per week | £27.76 per hour Umbrella
We are recruiting a Neighbourhood Manager for a temporary opportunity with a progressive and leading housing association in South East London.
This is a varied, community-based role with responsibility for providing an accessible and responsive neighbourhood management service. You will act as a key point of contact for residents, take ownership of local issues and work with colleagues and partner agencies to maintain safe, well-managed neighbourhoods.
The working pattern currently includes office attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays for administration and team working, although these days may change. The remaining days will primarily involve visits across the local area.
The role
You will take a holistic approach to managing your neighbourhoods, balancing excellent customer service with effective risk management, estate standards and service delivery. You will be trusted to make decisions, resolve issues and hold internal and external service providers to account.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing resident enquiries and cases involving complaints, lettings, mutual exchanges, successions and assignment requests
- Carrying out estate, scheme and property inspections, including basic compliance checks
- Identifying and managing neighbourhood risks, escalating concerns where appropriate
- Developing practical neighbourhood plans informed by customer insight, performance data and local priorities
- Working with community safety colleagues to address antisocial behaviour and other local concerns
- Supporting resident engagement, attending resident meetings and encouraging feedback
- Coordinating property viewings and sign-ups while supporting the prompt turnaround of empty homes
- Working with asset management and legal teams on access, tenancy and property-related matters
- Supporting vulnerable residents and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns
- Monitoring expenditure, service charges and local budgets with a focus on value for money
- Building effective relationships with residents, colleagues, contractors and external agencies
- Identifying service improvements and supporting performance against agreed targets
About you
You will be organised, resilient and comfortable managing a varied caseload with a good level of autonomy. You should be able to make sound decisions, communicate confidently with different audiences and remain focused on practical solutions for residents.
You will need:
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work to deadlines
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence using business systems, performance information and customer data
- The ability to analyse sensitive or complex information
- Sound judgement and effective problem-solving skills
- A collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge and influence others
- A clear commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
- The ability to complete a Basic DBS check
Comparable neighbourhood or housing management experience with a housing association would be particularly valuable. Knowledge of tenancy and leasehold management, enforcement, service charges and current housing legislation would also be helpful.
A driving licence is not essential, although it would be useful. Applications from candidates living within easy reach of Thamesmead are especially welcome. Work-related expenses are paid, and a personal safety device will be provided for visits.
Please apply today for immediate consideration.
