Description

Building Surveyor | Damp & Mould
6-Month Contract | London | Up to £440 per day Umbrella

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a leading London housing provider on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for further opportunities.

The organisation is a major housing provider operating across London, responsible for a large portfolio of residential homes and committed to maintaining safe, high-quality properties and delivering positive outcomes for residents.

The Role

As a Building Surveyor, you’ll support the delivery of planned and reactive works, providing professional surveying advice, technical assessments and recommendations. You’ll undertake building surveys, oversee works and contractors, and help ensure properties are maintained to the required quality and regulatory standards.

A key focus of this assignment will be damp and mould, including inspecting properties, identifying underlying issues and recommending appropriate remedial works. You’ll need a strong understanding of Awaab’s Law and the requirements surrounding the investigation and management of damp and mould in social housing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed building and property condition surveys, particularly relating to damp and mould.
  • Inspect residents’ homes and identify defects, causes and appropriate remedial solutions.
  • Produce clear technical reports, recommendations and cost assessments.
  • Oversee planned and reactive repair works and monitor contractor performance.
  • Carry out post-inspections to ensure works have been completed to the required standard.
  • Support the management of complex repairs, disrepair cases and major works.
  • Provide technical surveying advice across repairs, maintenance and asset management.
  • Ensure contractors comply with relevant HSE, CDM and statutory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver effective outcomes for residents.

We're Looking For

You'll need:

  • Proven experience working as a Building Surveyor, ideally within social housing or residential property.
  • Strong, demonstrable experience of damp and mould surveying and diagnosis.
  • Good working knowledge of Awaab’s Law and its practical implications for social housing landlords.
  • Experience carrying out property inspections and producing detailed technical reports.
  • Experience managing planned/reactive works and contractors.
  • Experience with JCT and/or NEC contracts.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Appropriate surveying qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Full UK driving licence is desirable, particularly given the requirement to travel between London sites.
